Sex Before Marriage Should be a Legally Punished Crime.

Before you come for me, hear me out first.

It was a cold evening, and we were trying to appreciate the not-so-encouraging cold weather when someone brought up how it was the perfect weather for cuddling and so on. Next thing you know, everyone was talking about their first time. I didn’t have a first time, so I didn’t say anything, but “Miss 21st century” wouldn’t let me be. When I told her I didn’t have a first time, she asked why.

I believe sex is for married couples, so what came to my mind was “because I’m not married.” She gave me the “We’re in the 21st Century Sweetie” answer.

I know it has taken a while, but here’s my reply to Miss 21st Century.

One of the eight grounds on which a marriage celebrated after 31st July 1971 is voidable according to the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 (MCA 1973) is the incapacity to consummate.

An opposite sex marriage may be voidable on the basis that it has not been consummated owing to the incapacity of either party to consummate it. (MCA 1973)

So, what exactly is consummation?
